To celebrate the first week of school, a back-to-school dance was held in the quad from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. this past Friday. It was a golden opportunity for Dons to kick off the 2024-2025 school year!
The quad was decorated by our own Link Crew members with gold backdrops, back and gold streamers, and golden stars. Games such as horseshoes, jenga, bean bag tic-tac-toe were set up for students to enjoy. But the students seemed most interested in dancing the night away to songs like “24K Magic,” and “Caballo de Rodero”. For Ally Holmes, a freshman, “The songs are more important than the people,” and their favorite part of the night was “when everybody loved that one song and showed up on the dance floor.”
The inaugural Black and Gold dance was attended by nearly 100 students which was amazing when considering the technical difficulties that plagued the first week of school. It was nearly impossible to let students and staff know that there was a dance.
The Black and Gold dance is one of the many dances planned for this school year. You should plan to attend all of these events, starting with the Homecoming Dance coming this September! Information will be found on The Informer’s Instagram page, @donsjournalism when it’s available.
