Block Blast is an addictive brain game, jogging the minds and capturing the attention of millions globally. The game challenges its player with an 8×8 grid to rearrange the colored blocks to clear the board before you run out of space, similar to Tetris. It heavily requires the player’s attention and skills in problem-solving.
Over time, it becomes harder and harder to manage the board with colorful shapes. Each new set of blocks prevents the game from becoming repetitive, making each playthrough truly unique. The entire point is to clear the board as well as maximize your score.
Block Blast also has two different modes to change up your playstyle: High School Mode and Time Challenge Mode. High school Mode challenges you to go for the highest score, stacking as many blocks as possible til space runs out. Meanwhile, Time Challenge Mode puts you on the clock with time limits and specific tasks for quick-paced action.
By Sept. 2024, the game had gained popularity and exposure across multiple social media apps and has over 200 million players worldwide. It differs from other games because it’s an age inclusive game, available and enjoyable for everyone on the app store.
“Block Blast is a great pass time and is another way to relax my brain,’’ states student Makayla Melendez. Its simplistic gameplay makes the game easily accessible to younger audiences, but requires enough strategy and planning to appeal to older audiences, too. Its different modes offer difficult, yet entertaining gameplay variation for those who wish for a challenge.
Hungry Studio, a company located in Hong Kong released Block Blast in the US on Apr. 3, 2022. They also made other popular games such as solitaire master that have also been played by millions of people where you play with a card deck and your goal is to get them into 7 piles from Ace to King. They create quick mental workout games that have gained popularity and helped provide entertainment to millions.
