Film critics everywhere are facing grief at the loss of surrealist cult classic movie maker, David Lynch. Although passing Jan. 15th, 2025 at the age of 78, his visionary American films like Blue Velvet and Twin Peaks, will continue to live on and influence the movies we see today.
David Lynch is often regarded as modern cinema’s most important director. As a screenwriter, he was a four-time Oscar nominee and was rewarded with an honorary Oscar of Lifetime Achievement in 2020.

Often applauded for his mature style in his films, he has captivated audiences for decades with his life, career, and accomplishments. The sinister elements reminiscent of his style in other films with his similar drealike qualities, has earned its own nickname, lynchian. A Name coined by the Novelist David Foster Wallace.
Although his passing has brought great grief, the humanist and sentimental feeling to all the movies that he has helped to create will continue to live on and leave its mark in the world of cinema. David Lynch, a man who made countless films without concern for the trending tropes or moods, continues to be a genre breaker in both life and in death.
