Welcomed by our proud staff and students, the west gym doors of Cerritos High School opened for parents and potential Dons alike at 5:00 P.M. on Feb. 11, 2025. As the second Open House this year, this event focused on giving great opportunities for the parents of new students to plan their upcoming school year and connect with classrooms.
As people piled in for the Principal Dr. Wise’s welcome, the Jazz Band performed songs “Bare Necessities”, “April in Paris”, “Strasbourg”, and others. Dr. Wise addressed the audience and brought our teachers on stage to introduce Cerritos High School’s great programs and pathways: CHEF, VAPA, Biomedical and Support Services, Education, Engineering Design, Computer Science and Cyber Security, and CTE Digital Arts.
The audience soon joined others who were already exploring the campus and previewing our many classes, electives, and athletics. Parents and middle schoolers flooded the school with questions and great interest. “I hope that Open House will give the people in our community a chance to see just how fabulous our school is and better guide the paths they take.” stated principal Dr. Wise.
Classrooms were filled with displays of this year’s work and Cerritos High School students, who helped teachers demonstrate the lessons and courses of the school year. “This year’s Open House allowed me to showcase the skills that we’re working on in AP Stats and, hopefully, attract students for next year” states teacher Mr. Wooldridge.
This year’s Open House was an overall success, as it helped many students prepare and understand the experiences to come. The next Open House will take place in the school year of 2025 to 2026.
