Michelle Steck is the new softball and PE teacher here at Cerritos High School. Her first year here was 2024-2025. Growing up she did many sports, looking up to her high school coach, and over the years she decided to become a PE teacher and softball coach just like her own coach.
What she enjoys about her job is the little things the students do for her. “I love getting the little notes and gifts during the holidays, not because of the price but because of the thought” She also enjoys spending time with her co-workers and getting to know them more.
Her coach at Kennedy High School did PE and Softball just like she does now. Mrs. Steck feels like she is to thank for her career as a softball coach and PE teacher here at Cerritos High School.
Mrs. Steck graduated from UCLA and gained a bachelor’s degree in American History. After that, she worked at Anaheim High School as an assistant for people with special needs.
She has a family of five, including herself, her husband, and three kids. She wanted to get a new job for herself and her family. She realized that her passion had always been teaching, especially PE. So she applied to be a PE teacher and Softball coach.
Loving the outdoors as she does it has been great for her to watch kids embrace the things she used to love when she was young. Mrs. Steck looks forward to trying to get her students to enjoy being outside and moving their bodies. Her kids show a lot of love toward her passion for teaching and they support her and wish to be like her one day.
Knowing that her kids look up to her, helps her push through the tough days. She is very thankful for the staff of Cerritos high school and is thankful for her students for welcoming her into their community.
