The crowd roared and the stands jumped to their feet as the Girls Flag Football team earned a decisive victory over Culver City High School. On Aug. 19, 2025, the Girls Flag Football team dominated with a final score of 20–2, punctuating their first home game ever as our newest CIF-rostered sport with a big W.
Early in the first half, our ladies jumped out to a commanding lead with an impressive performance. Senior Emma Sousa sprinted across the field for a touchdown, while sophomore Jaslyn Macaraeg scored another after a quick interception and a 40-yard dash. Culver City simply could not break through the team’s defense, leaving them with only 2 points to CHS’s 12 at the end of the first half.
Maintaining their advantage, Cerritos High School kept up the consistency in the second half when sophomore Julia Santos sped through the defense for another touchdown, followed by a quick two points added through a safety.
As cheers rose louder and louder, the team seemed to gain even more energy late in the game, making this first home game both a smooth victory and a historic moment for the team and school.
Head Coach Brittney Parker-Goodin praised her team: “Flag Football is a growing sport, and I absolutely love that the girls are out here ready to work. I’m looking for them to grow through this season and, by the end, make a big name for ourselves.”
If you missed the game, don’t worry; the Girls Flag Football team will be playing at Jordan High School on Aug. 20. Be there at 3:45 p.m.
