A night of cheers, congratulations, and absolute Don Pride, the Homecoming Football Game concluded with a win against Woodrow Wilson High School while revealing our Homecoming King and Queen for the upcoming dance. On Sept. 25, 2025 in the Rants Stadium at 7p.m., dominated the scene, ending with a final score of 53-17. Featuring the Regiment of Gold Band and Pep Squad to cheer the team on, the Homecoming Football Game was truly a night to remember.
Our Dons completely dominated the first half, with the first quarter starting off with two impressive touchdowns from senior Labrentan Wilson. Senior Mateo Aarncibia kicked past the crowds with a 38-yard field goal, while senior Justin Sagun breached Wilson’s defenses with a swift touchdown. Although the Wilson Wildcats scored some sneaky field goals after an injury stoppage, the Cerritos Dons were able to stay strong and end the first half with a score of 23-10.
Senior actors Shane Gentry and Jemiah Carys-Villasin took the sakura stage to begin the Half-Time Show. The senior king nominees consisted of Alec Alvarez, Matthew Bernardo, and Zandrei Paredes, while the senior queen nominees consisted of Amy Ge, Lauren Arca, and Strawberry Steele. As the stands and contestants alike shook with anticipation, Alec Alvarez and Amy Ge were ultimately voted in as Homecoming King and Queen for the blossoming 2025 to 2026 school year.
“At first I didn’t wanna do this,” said Alec Alvarez, “but after doing all this stuff and going to the rallies, it’s been an overall really great experience.”
“My favorite part was definitely getting closer with all the nominees and sharing stories and having fun. It was less of a competition and more of a bonding moment for me.” said Amy Ge.
Despite being caught off guard, the Dons picked up the pace again and continued to crush the Wilson Wildcats. Senior Bailey Crawford and Wilson scored a touchdown, Aarancibia scored a 47-yard field goal, and Senior Suvan Pradhan caught a touchdown pass. However, with five touchdowns and 300 yards scored in one game, Wilson was the MVP of the match, ending the second half with a score of 53-17.
Overall, the Homecoming Football Game pumped up every Don for the night to come and for the rest of the football season. The Homecoming Dance will be on Sept. 27, 2025 at 7p.m. at Cerritos High School’s quad.
