Regiment of Gold takes 2nd in State
December 6, 2022
The Cerritos Regiment of Gold won 2nd place in CSBC State Championships on Nov. 19 at Huntington Beach High School. Competing against top bands from Divisions 4A-6A across California, the band earned a total score of 93.650 and won a high caption in High Music Performance.
The ROG received the silver trophy, as well as a $1000 check from a CSBC sponsor.
This final performance of Prehistoric ended the 2022 Fall Season on a high note, a season marked with success. This has been showcased by the consistent improvement and ability to score 1st place in all the competitions the ROG participated in up until the State Championships.
Head Drum Major Kai Cooray, a senior member of the band, felt great about the last performance, and the hard work they were able to showcase.
”Of course the show design has been monumental, with the level of difficulty and character in the music, drill, choreography, and such, all playing huge roles in our ‘success,’ at least in terms of scores and adjudication.” said Cooray.
Cooray believes, however, that the band’s success came from bonding and becoming a true community of “driven, hard-working members who’ve dedicated countless hours to make our show its best quality product.”
