ASB helped celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with activities from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15. Director of Multicultural Affairs, senior Taviana Woods, worked with Latinos Unidos to create a spirit week where students showcased their pride and solidarity with Cultural Flag Day, Hispanic Heroes Day, Central American and Caribbean Day, and Mexico Day.
There were various quad events that gave students fun and hands-on ways to learn about Hispanic cultures from around the world. Papel Picado was a workshop held in the quad where students took part in creating colorful and elaborate tissue flags. Those flags adorned the quad so that others could appreciate them. One morning they started with a goodie bag giveaway that featured Mexican candies and stickers.
Latinos Unidos Co-President Paula Quesada, not only assisted ASB but also held the first general club meeting to start off Heritage Month. The joint efforts made by students to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month demonstrate the unity of the school and the consistent endeavor to be sure all students are respected, seen, and acknowledged.
