The Cerritos Varsity Football team won the CIF Semifinal game 42-28 against Coachella Valley at Rants Stadium Friday Night. Their domination of the favorite, Coachella Valley means they move forward to the CIF Finals This coming Saturday night at Artesia’s Stadium.
The first quarter could not start without a coin toss that Cerritos won. With that advantage it was not long until Number 22, Josiah Ungos, made the first touchdown for the Dons. The team is stocked with playmakers, and Friday the MVP’s had to beNumber 3, Joshua Park, and Number 7, Jeremiah Bagaygay. Park scored a total of three touchdowns throughout the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters. While Bagaygay was near perfect in defense, intercepting multiple plays which aided his teammates in scoring against Coachella Valley.
Once the game was complete Dons screamed in the stands, cheerleaders ran on the field, and players celebrated amongst each other. Bagaygay gave the real reason for the team’s win, “This is for all Dons!”
But Head Coach, Demel Franklin, had other reasons for his team’s win. Dedication, hardwork, and belief when the others did not believe in them. Post game his team took a knee and he told them, “They doubted us and didn’t believe in us but we are going to give them something to believe in! Look at that score!”
