The elective fair was held in the quad at both snack and lunch this past Wednesday to showcase the various electives students can choose from when considering the classes they want to take next year. Different electives had tents where they set up displays to showcase their classes, and many different electives were displayed, such as various AP classes, arts classes, language classes, and pathways.
Each class had decorations and information at their tent, from the Theater/Stagecraft class displaying the awards their program has received to the Teacher Track class showing the stoles members of their class could receive. Some classes had their students hand out flyers and give information about their class to other students, both those in the quad and those approaching their tents. This was one element of the elective fair that stood out to some; “I like that there are students telling other students about their electives because they have personal experience being in that elective, rather than being a teacher who teaches the class; it’s a different perspective that makes the information they give very helpful,” said sophomore Jemiah Villasin.
Students began meeting with their counselors this past week to get the counselors opinions and guidance for which classes best suit them as they move on through high school. Make sure you pick classes that both challenge you, and make you happy. Keeping mentally healthy requires a balance in your life, which includes your school life, which is most of your day.
