Girls varsity soccer went against Glenn High School last Friday night in our school’s soccer field. It was an outstanding win for Cerritos with a final score of 17-1.
The girls made many consecutive goals throughout the game, with senior Ava Vallefuoco making the most goals. Credits also go to senior Jaylah Allen, Cayla Oliveira, and Denise Gutierrez for strategically passing the ball to each other across the field, allowing their teammates to deal the final kick to score a goal. After instances of the ball going out of bounds, Gutierrez successfully saved the ball from crossing the white edge, continuing the game and saving the round for Cerritos. Glenn’s soccer team’s one point against Cerritos was simply not enough to overcome the barrage of wins.
The single point earned by Glenn High School’s soccer team came as a surprise to Coach Adams, when he stated, “You’re here for a historic day, that was the first goal that any opposing team has made in three years.”
Don’t miss the varsity girl’s soccer team against Artesia High School Tuesday, January 23. We are sure it will be another blowout.
