In celebration of the Halloween season, Universal Studios puts on annual nights of horror, from September 5 – November 2. Hollywood Horror Nights immerses the attendees into some of the most known horror movies by walking through haunted houses based on the moments of those movies.
This year’s haunted houses bring iconic Universal Monsters such as those from A Quiet Place, Insidious, Dead Exposure Death Valley, Monstrous: The Nightmares of Latin America, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Weeknd: The Nightmare Trilogy and more. In addition to the haunted houses there are scare zones. They are locations in between haunted houses where scare actors hide and roam, then when you’re not looking, they come out to scare you.
This year the theme of their scare zones are Chainsaw punkz, Murder of crowz, Luchadores Monstruosos and Skull lordz. The price of coming to Hollywood Horror Nights is $77 and you can get more information on ticket prices on Universal Studios Hollywood’s official website.
If you are like me and you love to be scared but don’t like your heart to stop beating then The Terror Tram is an amazing first to do for the night, you get dropped off in the backlot of Universal and must walk through the Blumhouse. Blumhouse is a horror making production company that has given horror a home. The most well known characters from Blumhouse movies include M3gan the murders android, The Grabber from the black phone, and The Purge.
The Terror Tram wait time typically ranges from 25 minutes to an hour, but for me it was worth it for the two sneak peeks of Blumhouses upcoming projects at the end.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, The haunted house is based on the fourth Ghostbuster movie that came out this year back in March where a chilling new entity, Garraka is released from an artifact in New York. I do want to warn you, in the maze some of the ghosts spray water at you so don’t stray for too long. Overall, it was worth the wait.
There was so much to experience during the visit. The numerous themes and costumes for the haunted houses and scare zones are all ready to scare you to bits. If you go, enjoy your night of horror as you prepare for a Happy Halloween.
