Graduation is fast approaching for seniors, and juniors will soon be stepping up to the plate. As a senior who didn’t know what to expect, I wanted to share some advice to help you navigate your final year of high school.
Save Up Now
Senior year can be expensive. It’s smart to start saving early for all the events and keepsakes that come with it, like dance tickets, field trips, senior portraits, yearbooks, Grad Bash, and most importantly, your cap and gown for graduation. Purchasing the senior class package can save money in the long run, especially if you plan on attending dances. It also includes the yearbook, which sells out, and a class t-shirt. It’s usually over $50. Prices increase as the year goes on, so getting everything early can give you and your family peace of mind.
Take Senior Portraits Early
Scheduling your senior portraits early is key. Decide whether you prefer taking them at school or at Prestige’s professional studio. You can take photos in your cap and gown, varsity jacket, or sports uniform. The earlier you book, the better your chances of getting the time and setting you want. Look for this information sent to your parents email coming in late May.
Fill Out Contracts, Even if You Don’t Think You’ll Go to An Event
Even if you think you won’t attend a dance or field trip, fill out the required contracts anyway. Plans can change, and many seniors regret missing out simply because they didn’t turn in a form on time. It’s better to have the option than to miss out altogether.
Senioritis is Real
It’s easy to lose motivation, but try to stay on top of things. Set small, manageable goals and don’t leave college applications or graduation requirements until the last minute. At the same time, don’t forget to enjoy the moments that make senior year special. Finding a balance between fun and responsibility is key to avoiding the worst of senioritis.
