Teacher Track is a pathway designed for students interested in pursuing careers in education. The program provides students with professional opportunities and helps them gain knowledge and experience. There are many benefits to choosing this pathway, especially for those who plan to pursue a career in education.
Students gain hands-on experience by volunteering twice a week at Elliott Elementary School, where they work directly with students and observe how teaching impacts young learners.
They also expand their involvement in the community by attending two teaching conferences, touring California State University of Long Beach, and volunteering at the local Sonshine Preschool’s Harvest Festival. “I think that Teacher Track allows me to be involved and make a deeper connection to my future career,” said Rochelle Coomes. As the program is open to everyone, even students who are still unsure about their plans, she emphasized that it has helped her grow personally while learning how to connect with students in a supportive classroom environment.
After completing the pathway, you receive a stole to wear at graduation, representing your hard work and achievements. Graduates who transfer to Cerritos College earn college credit for two classes and a letter from the ABC Unified School District superintendent, guaranteeing them an interview after they complete their college coursework.
Teacher Track opens doors for students by giving them valuable experience and opportunities in the field of education. It empowers students to grow, lead, and confidently pursue their future careers.
