As spring approaches, our school’s track and field team is getting ready for an exciting and competitive season. With returning athletes and new runners joining the team, expectations are high for strong performances and personal growth.
Track includes a variety of events, such as sprints, distance runs, and hurdles, unlike cross country, which mainly focuses on a 3-mile long-distance race. Track offers something for everyone, allowing athletes to find the event that best matches their strengths and goals.
Many athletes say some of the best parts of track are feeling better after each practice and or race. “I like running and feeling like I’m getting faster, said freshman Zoe Rola. “Improvement is a big focus this season, with runners working hard to beat their personal records and support one another along the way.
Team chemistry is also a major factor in the team’s success. Teammates encourage each other during tough workouts and celebrate victories together. The coaches emphasize dedication, consistency, and effort. They are also constantly reminding their athletes that progress comes with hard work and dedication.
Beyond competition, the team has big goals for improvement. Many athletes are focused on breaking personal records, qualifying for bigger meets, and pushing themselves mentally. This season emphasizes growth, development, and learning to stay confident under pressure especially during third semester.
With intense practices, determined athletes, and strong team support, this year’s track season is expected to be competitive and exciting. As the new meets approach, the team is ready to prove their hard work is paying off and show what they can accomplish on the track. Be sure to attend the track meet on March 21 at 8 p.m. at Yorba Linda Highschool.
