Knowing that this is their final year in high school, many seniors want more ideas for upcoming hangouts. Whether you’re searching for an inexpensive craft idea or you need an emphasis on the importance of reflection for the past four years, here are seven things to do before you leave behind your high school days.
1. Say goodbye to your teachers. Say a thank you to those who made a positive contribution to your life. You don’t need to go all out—even a simple verbal thank you can be enough before you leave.
2. Mend your relationships. After this, there is no identical high school experience. You don’t want any second thoughts that will follow you into adulthood. Saying your goodbyes and apologies may feel difficult, but the feeling of regret is often worse.
3. Make a friend group memory box or scrapbook with all your trinkets and shared memories. It might be a fun experience reminiscing about how your lives were years ago. Looking back on the changes or similarities, and having a physical place to put your memories in is often therapeutic, especially for groups.
4. Film a coming-of-age style movie or music video. It could be nostalgic, adventurous, or however you’re feeling about graduation. Pick a favorite song and place, set up a camera, and just have fun with it. It can function as both a bonding connection with friends or a way to revisit fun times later on in life.
5. Go on a long walk or hike. Enjoying nature may have just the perfect amount of peace you might need for the long years ahead. No music, no worries, just you, your friends, and their company outside.
6. Take all the photos you want. Whether physical or digital, photos serve as the perfect preservation of your memories. Take the selfies and group photos with your friends, favorite teachers, clubs, acquaintances, or anyone you want to remember down the line. If you’d like to decorate your new college dorm with them, Polaroid films or photobooth strips can help bring life to the walls.
7. Do something big. We’ve all sent a video to our group chat showing a fun activity and saying “we should do this”, then never actually doing it. Well, as your year comes to a close, you should finally follow through with your plans. Prepare that road trip, go to that concert, do the things you’ve been waiting years to do.
If you’re worried about these activities not fitting into your opinion of fun, just know they can be personalized for each and every student. They should be enjoyed however you want to remember your teen years, and are great to do solo or with friends. Your final year in high school is important, and so you should make as many fun and exciting memories as possible.
