Our proud senior dons experienced their final moments at Cerritos High School at the Class of 2026 Graduation at the Rants Stadium. On May 28 starting at 7 p.m., the seniors surrounded themselves with friends, family, and classmates as they received their diplomas, starting a new chapter of their lives.
Seniors were instructed to come early at 5:45 p.m. at Gahr High School’s gyms. Wearing their caps and gowns, they also adorned themselves with stoles, medallions, pins, and any other honorary regalia they received for their efforts. As they figured out their seating arrangements, parents flooded the stadium’s stands.
At 7 p.m., seniors began to walk down the track and through the Cerritos Ceremonial Gate as the song “Pomp and Circumstance” played. Cheered on by loved ones, they finally took their seats.
The graduation ceremony was opened up by senior Nikhita Guntapalli, who welcomed guests and congratulated her classmates.
Senior Jemiah Carys Villasin took the stage, rising the stadium by singing the Pledge of Allegiance and the United States’ “National Anthem.”
Then, senior Gabriella Johnson and Villasin performed the song “For Good” from Wicked, which contained themes of final farewells and changing the lives of others.
Principal Dr. Crechena Wise then gave a speech to the seniors, thanking them for everything they’ve done for the school and wishing them luck on their next steps.
Senior Chloe Ung gave a speech about a revelation she had at a volunteering program, where an elderly man asked her the meaning of life and death, encouraging everyone to come up with their own definition.
Senior Amy Ge gave a speech about the many struggles, successes, and complications of high school, but emphasizing the beautiful little things in between.
Then, Dr. Wise shined light on the Valedictorians and seniors going into Armed Services for their work.
Finally, students were brought to the stage to receive their diplomas and shake the hands of the officials of the city and Dr. Wise. Roaring applause from fellow classmates and the crowd echoed throughout the ceremony.
After all names were called at 9:30 p.m., Dr. Wise said her last words to the Class of 2026. Dons got up from their seats to hug friends, cry in joy, and reunite with families as fireworks splashed in the sky.
Congratulations to the Class of 2026! The Informer gives their best wishes in whatever you pursue! Have a great life!!!
