Cerritos’ favorite band, The Dinosaurs, took center stage in the quad during lunch Nov. 17, 2023 covering hits ranging from artists Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift. The band consists of singer and guitarist Mr. Mark Kato, drummer Mr. Wade Varieur, bassist Mr. Young Min Pak, and Ms. Grace Ahn on keyboard.

The concert included the highlight of dedicating of U2’s “One,” to Ethan Soriano. According to Mr. Kato, the song represents how the Cerritos community came together in the wake of Soriano’s passing, stating that to ”count on each other… that’s the Cerritos Way.” The band also invited the crowd to sing along with senior Tripura Sai, who was brought onto stage as an honorary Dinosaur to sing Taylor Swift’s, “You Belong With Me.”

The Dinosaurs, which was founded over 10 years ago, got their unusual name from a joke about the age gap between the teachers and students. The Dinosaurs play a few times a year, and students should be excited to know that they are planning to play again within the next few weeks.
