Dons filled the gym on March 8 for the second assembly of the year, cheering on their peers as the spring sports teams were introduced. These included the badminton, track, swim, tennis, softball, volleyball, golf, and baseball teams, with an additional performance by the CHS Song Leaders. The event concluded with a highly anticipated finale to the “bead challenge,” which had started earlier in the week.

Each team had a different way of showcasing their members and engaging with the audience. The badminton team, for example, formed a circle with the seniors in the center, and each person in the outside circle hit a birdie at the seniors; the boy’s volleyball team held up a net in the middle as each member spiked the ball over it. Other teams, such as the track, softball, and swim teams, threw various items into the audience, as people got ready to catch everything from rubber ducks, candy, shirts, to glow sticks!

In addition to being introduced to the spring sports teams, the audience also got to see an amazing performance put on by CHS Song, as well as the finale to the bead challenge. The challenge had started earlier in the week; each student was given necklaces by their third period teacher, and they were then encouraged to challenge their friends to games of rock paper scissors to win their necklaces.

Members from each section of the audience who had the most necklaces were chosen, eventually having to make their way to the gym floor, where they played rock paper scissors. When someone lost the game, they were eliminated and had to give their necklaces to the winner, and the last person standing won a gift card. As captured in the photo, the winner from the second assembly, Alex Lam–with a pile of beaded necklaces in his arms–competed against Mr. Walker to cement his victory of the “bead challenge”.
