Cerritos High School hosted its first VAPA art showcase event, recognizing the many talented artists here on this campus on April 11, 2024. The VAPA Showcase gave students currently in the various art classes here at the Cerritos campus the opportunity to showcase their best works from Art I, Art II, Art III, and AP Art. The showcase also held the CHEF Art Contest in which students submitted their works in four different art categories: Literary, Visual, Performing, and Special Artists. Students and parents went inside the media center to view the displays.

During the VAPA Showcase, students’ artworks were displayed on numerous tables, and the panel in the middle of the room held the entries for the CHEF Art Contest. Winners for each of the categories were announced that evening. Winners of the Special Artists Category were Sophia Ruel-Banuelos, Andrew Aquino, Anthony Ayala, Bradley Clyde, and Daichi Portis. The winner of the Performing Arts Category was Alena Nielson. Winners of the Literary Arts Category were Sanai Wilson, Tamia White, and Vijay Viking. And finally, the winners of the Visual Arts Category were Dhara Panchal, Sofia Miramontes, and Ava Barcelos.

This event served as a success for its first time being held at Cerritos High School. Mrs. Quiggle, the art teacher who co-ran the show, states how she “hopes that there will be more VAPA Showcases in the future,” and that “it will hopefully be a bigger event next year.”
