Cerritos High School’s 2026 Prom Premiere was presented Wednesday in the quad during lunch. Brought to you by your Junior Class Officers, the event offered everything students needed to know about this year’s prom, blending information with entertainment and set the tone of whimsy. The Prom Premiere excited students in the crowd, who were ready for a night of fairytale fun.
The Prom Premiere began with a short Drama performance featuring juniors Shane Gentry and John Luna and sophomore Gwen Law, who portrayed a scene of a prince and his princess, right before he turned into a frog. This was followed by a catwalk where students showed off their outfits inspired by the event. Students came with dates and best friends, striding down the runway and ending with a pose.
The Cerritos Junior Class Officers then revealed the 2026 prom theme: Tiana’s Enchanted Bayou. Alongside the theme, the Prom King and Queen nominees were announced: Michael Lam, Alec Alvarez, Zandrei Paredes, Emily Park, Hailey Steele and Amy Ge. Nominees were given bouquets of flowers and golden sashes after taking the stage.
Prom King nominatee senior Michael Lam said, “I’m very thankful. I think the dance is going to be a great time.”
“I felt very open being in front of everyone,” said Prom Queen nominee junior Juliana Teh, “I was excited to be part of such a significant event.”
The prom will be held at Ovation Square in Long Beach on Mar. 21 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Contracts will be distributed only to juniors and seniors from Jan. 28 to Feb. 4 and are due by the end of lunch on Feb. 4. Regular sales are available from Feb. 4 to Feb. 11 at $125 with an ASB card and $135 without one. Late sales will take place from Feb. 13 to Feb. 20 and will cost $145 regardless of having an ASB card.
