To help students and parents, Cerritos held Open House on January 27, a yearly event to show off the school and its many great talents. Along with this, Open House is an opportunity for students to get to know their future teachers and classes.
Open House kicked off with a speech in the east gym from Dr. Wise, welcoming new students to Cerritos High School. She emphasized how Cerritos is the best school in the city, with no school quite like it. Dr. Wise also announces the goal of being the first school in the district with LED lights in the gym.
Throughout Open House, students were able to explore their future at Cerritos, whether new or continuing students, by going to CTE pathways and classes they’re interested in.Students and parents alike were welcome into these classes and into the Cerritos High School community. Classes opened their doors to new students, with some even hosting showcases directly in the quad, although most hosted in their rooms.
Showcases ranged from Ms. Rheaume talking about Cerritos’ exclusive teacher track to members of band and color guard demonstrating their talents by performing in the west gym. Color guard performer Hailey Ybanez said, “I appreciate that Cerritos gave us that opportunity to perform and show what we have. It’s nice to feel included in what Cerritos has to offer.”
