On March 10, the quad transformed into a sweet mess as ASB continued its Cash 4 Cancer fundraiser. Also in early celebration of National Pie Day, students lined up for the opportunity to toss plates of whipped cream to staff members and ASB representatives for a great cause.
For those looking to target ASB members, it costed $1, while the chance to pie a teacher cost $2. For the main event of whipped cream, ASB offered $2 for one plate, $5 for three, and $20 for a whole can for those ready for a whipped cream catastrophe.
The brave crew of staff targets included staff Ms. Juliana Diaz, Mr. Lavernis Martin, Mr. Johnathan Watanabe, and Mr. Terryll Wooldridge. Representing the student body was ASB President Amy Ge and senior representative Morgan Stecher. Despite the plastic ponchos being intended to shield them, the students hurled and flung plates with full accuracy and no mercy. “Being pied was interesting, but fun,” said Stecher, wiping off the remnants of the fundraiser, “I would do it again next year if I wasn’t a senior.”
Even if the whipped cream has been wiped away, the momentum of Cash 4 Cancer isn’t done just yet. Students are encouraged to keep the spirit alive by participating in the last couple days of the fundraiser by dressing up like a celebrity on Thursday, March 12 and wearing anything yellow on Friday, March 13, to keep up with the Minion theme of Cash 4 Cancer.
