Cerritos High School’s Health Occupation Students of America (HOSA) club faced off in the Cal-HOSA Leadership Conference for their annual competition. From March 26 to March 28, our students put their medical knowledge to the test at the Ontario Convention Center, facing off against schools from all over the state. Competing in a multitude of medical categories, students scored high and made Cerritos High School proud.
The HOSA State Leadership Conference allowed the future healthcare professionals of Cerritos High School to compete, acquire new skills, and connect with peers new and old who share a passion for Health Science. Students could also experience educational and leadership workshops to showcase their abilities. Top ten finalists gained a medal and recognition for their work.
In the Biotechnology category, senior Naveen Saravanan came in fourth place.
In the Creative Problem Solving category, freshmen Krish Kohli, Piya Doshi, Dhwani Darji, Kiaan Desai, Jayden Oh, and Neil Mehta, came in fifth place.
In the Extemporaneous Writing Health Policy category, junior Eshan Patil came in fourth place.
In the Nutrition Second ATC Biology category, junior Daniel Chang came in fifth place.
In the Veterinary Science category, junior Rachel Hawara came in sixth place.
Also in the Biotechnology category, junior Kathryn Lin came in eighth place.
In the HOSA Bowl category, seniors Angeline Yang, Gracy Singh, Cara Chin, and Malia Chin came in tenth place.
Although the trip was for an academic purpose, students still had fun opportunities to bond with each other and make memories. “It was a really independent trip, as it taught me to live on my own and definitely helped me explore the medical pathway a lot more,” said freshman Piya Doshi.
With their knowledge and passion, HOSA represented the talents Cerritos High School has to offer. As our HOSA representatives fought valiantly, they will compete even harder next year.
