Students had the opportunity to experience flavors from around the world on March 27 during the Cerritos High School’s International Food Fair. This event brought campus clubs together to celebrate cultural diversity through food. The fair showcased dishes from a variety of student organizations and gave students a chance to learn about different traditions in a welcoming, community-centered setting.
The event featured a wide range of foods, including samosa and mange lassi from club MAZA, popcorn chicken from the Taiwanese Club, conchas from Latinos Unidos, Korean glass noodles with vegetables from KCC, pancit from SEASA, banana pudding from BSU, chicken cutlet from CHIKARA, falafel from MESA, turon from Club Magkaisa and pasta from ASB, With each club offering a dish connected to its culture, the fair transformed lunchtime into a celebration of identity and representation.
For student participants, the event held a deeper meaning beyond simply sharing food. “We represent cultures and share them with others,” freshman Gina Randle said, highlighting the importance of bringing students together through cultural expression. “My culture and I feel represented on campus,” said freshman Claria Ching.
By combining food, culture, and student involvement, the International Food Fair created an opportunity for students to connect in a meaningful way. More than just a campus activity, the event reflected the school’s diversity and showed how cultural traditions can strengthen community.
